Are You Sabotaging Your Success?

People often do things that sabotage their goals and success without realizing it. Destructive self-defeating habits that block success and reinforce scarcity are no exception. You might recognize your Self in the following examples.

1) Never have enough:

Are you more focused on what you do not have–money, time, love or any other quality? When you focus on ‘not enough’ you are creating it as your reality. When you feel anxious about your finances, fearful about not having enough money, or resentful because others seem to have more than you; you are affirming your belief in ‘Not enough.’

If you desire to have enough, you will need to ‘let go of’ your existing beliefs and change them to reflect an unwavering belief in having ‘more than enough.’ When you begin to feel fear about lack, affirm. “I have more than enough (money, time, confidence, resources, strength and courage) to live a happy life and create success.

Reinforce this new belief several times a day, especially if you notice you are creating thoughts of lack or hopelessness. If you consistently push through your uneasiness and affirm with trust and faith that you have more than enough, you attract and align with a powerful flow of abundance.

2) Reluctant/afraid to take action:

Consistent focus on lack and scarcity creates a reluctance/fear to take action, which results in your missing opportunities that the universe sends to you in response to your new mindset. Your reluctance/fear is caused by a sense of defeat or futility about your circumstances. If you feel that there is nothing you can do to change it, therefore, you do nothing or only half-heartedly take action. Or you know something you can do, but the thought of doing it frightens you, and you procrastinate.

In order to break through this spin cycle, you need to push your Self to take focused action. It does not matter what you take action on, only if it moves you in the direction of your desires. If you desire a job that pays better, take action to get a promotion or a new job. Your actions do not have to be earth-shattering or exceedingly different. If you frighten your Self about taking a huge step, take small ones. All small steps made in the direction of your desires take you to what you desire. Move your Self out of your comfort zone little by little.

3) Digging a deeper hole of debt:

Do you buy things on credit or take out personal loans to feel more prosperous, thus, giving your Self a false sense of wealth and success? Yet, in the back of your mind, you know that you are getting deeper and deeper into debt, which only exacerbates the strong feeling of scarcity. When the credit card bills and loan payments come due, you, then, go into a state of fear and anxiety because you do not have enough money to pay them…so you are again focusing on more and more expressions of lack and scarcity! It is a vicious cycle—what goes around comes around. In order to get out of this vicious cycle you need to do two things immediately.

• Take action to pay the debt as quickly as possible, even if you need to create a consolidation plan with credit cards and loans. Do whatever you can to eliminate financial pressure, which will enable you to accomplish the next step—being debt free.

• Focus on the feeling of being DEBT FREE each day. Imagine the weight being lifted off your shoulders as you visualize the bills paid in full.

Visualize having enough money to pay cash for your needs and desires. Immerse your Self in these great feelings of freedom and having enough. You will then attract more abundance and release the debt cycle little by little.
Think about what other destructive habits that could block your abundance. Write them in a column on the left half of a spiral note book. On the right half of the page opposite the habit; write the state of mind and actions that you need to engage in to clear this habit. Work on each habit one at a time until each habit has been transformed.

It will take approximately 30 – 45 days to completely transform these kinds of blocks. Persistence and consistency without judgment is the key.

This moment is the first moment of the rest of your life. Are you willing to do what it takes to claim your desires and success?
