What To Expect During A Hypnotic Regression

During a Hypnotic Regression, you will be gently guided into deep relaxation to allow your unconscious and subconscious mind to respond to allow the details to emerge and answer questions the Transformation Hypnosis practitioner asks you. You can expect to experience details, emotions, or sensations that may seem like watching a movie, and the experience will provide insights into current life issues. While some may experience vivid scenes, others might have strong emotions or a “sense of knowing”. There is no right or wrong way to experience it.

How long does a typical past-life regression therapy session last?

The duration of a PLRT experience can vary. It can be as short as 1 hour or longer than 4 hours. It may be conducted in one session or throughout multiple PLRT is usually done throughout three separate sessions. This approach ensures you make the most of your experience and have ample opportunity to integrate any new awareness or insight. It’s not uncommon for some of the most significant insights to come in the hours and days following the experience. As a Certified Past Life Regression practitioner, I use the initial phase to discuss goals and set intentions and provide education on the process. An introduction to the relaxation techniques follows this. Subsequent sessions include the regression journey, discussions, and integration of what transpired. The goal is not just to have a past life experience but to integrate what you learned so you can use it to improve your life.

Before the session

  • Initial discussion: You and the therapist will discuss your goals and how the session will proceed.
  • Preparation: If you are remote, you will need a comfortable place to sit with your head supported or lie down. For remote appointments, wearing headphones is recommended.

During the session

  • Hypnosis and relaxation: The therapist will guide you into a state of deep relaxation, similar to meditation, which may include techniques like guided imagery or being counted down from 10 to 1. This is often described as sensing being awake and aware, but in a deeply relaxed state.
  • Accessing experiences: You will be prompted to recall significant experiences, which may be from a past life or a repressed memory from this life. You are not expected to force a scenario.
  • Experiencing yourself you haven’t recalled before: You may experience events in various ways:
    • As vivid visual scenes.
    • As strong emotions or physical sensations.
    • As a “strong sense of knowing” or subconscious insights.
    • You may experience a recurring image or a physical sensation linked to a past injury.
  • Therapist’s role: The therapist will ask questions and use prompts to help you explore the experience, such as “How old are you?” or “Who are you with?” “What are you wearing?” “Are you male or female?”
  • Conscious state: You will remain conscious and aware throughout the session. You will still be able to hear the therapist’s voice, and the experience is not like sleeping.

After the session

  • Debriefing: The therapist will conduct a follow-up conversation to discuss and process what was uncovered during the regression.
  • Processing: You may gain immediate clarity, or you may need time to process the information and its significance to your current life.
  • Safety: A responsible therapist will ensure you feel safe and can provide support if you experience intense or distressing emotions.

What to be aware of

  • Recalled details: It is possible to recall details that are disjointed, so it is important to report what you are sensing, seeing hearing or observing as it occurs thus the therapist will assist you to delve into aspects that are the most relevant. It is also important to use caution when taking any action based on the experience.
  • The details might seem different than expected: The experience is not like a movie. Some people see detailed scenes, while others don’t have vivid images at all. Some people hear conversations some people don’t. What you experience is what your mind presents to you.

Last, but not least. I am adamant about only working with a Certified Past Life Regression practitioner. People frequently lament that they couldn’t achieve going into a past life with more than one hypnotherapist who claimed to be experienced. Whereas, they didn’t have any difficulty going into a deep level of relaxation with my instructions and experiencing a rich and worthwhile result.
