I had never met Josh, but he’d signed my petition against Navy sonar — and it turns out that he’d been researching and writing his book on the same topic for over six years.

It’s powerfully written, and Josh shares my outrage and sorrow over the fate of helpless whales and dolphins. But most importantly, this book reveals the hidden truth behind the Navy’s war on whales and dolphins.
War of the Whales tells the true story that the Navy has been suppressing for decades. Josh spent years digging into classified Navy files and interviewing people involved in the Navy’s Marine Mammal Research Program all the way back to 1961! Retired Navy dolphin trainers — and even retired admirals — shared secrets of the program that have never before been reported. Finally, we know the true facts about Navy sonar and the mass stranding of whales and dolphins worldwide.
When I read this book, I was moved to tears understanding the depth of the suffering that this sonar has caused — I was outraged at what I read, and over-joyed that the truth about the Navy’s war on whales is finally out in the open. Only through knowing the truth can we find a way to end this slaughter!

Being a long-term activist, I was heartened to learn of the others who share my concern for whales & dolphins worldwide. One notable is Bob Woodward, the investigative reporter who broke the Watergate scandal so many years ago.
