Life Is A Series Of Steps – One Minute At A Time

The way you show up for yourself this minute, today, tomorrow and everyday thereafter has a huge affect on who you will be; what you will experience and accomplish years from now. When you remain fully engaged minute to minute, enjoying everything while putting your energy into making the most of it, you will discover that you are well prepared and capable of handling any circumstance you encounter.

Life is a series of steps, one experience after another in perfect and divine order. You did not learn to run first, you learned to squiggle your body around until you rolled over, then, you began to get up on your hands and knees, crawling was accomplished next and so on until you could walk and then run.

With the descent of the setting sun, you are able to rest your head; letting the world go on by until the sun rises again. The successes in your life do not arrive all at once automatically; as you greet each day. The hours that follow the rising sun brings the opportunity to begin anew; donning a fresh perspective and dream-inspired hopes. These hours are for you to decide how you want to live and learn, laugh and grow. Your life is sweeter and more manageable when you experience them with a new perspective – hope and enthusiasm – one minute at a time.

Imagine the time stretching out before you and notice if you feel any tension or overwhelm at the prospect of the journey still to come. Perhaps you have recently made a lifestyle change, a new food plan, a new job, a new member in the family, a new love relationship and the idea of managing these changes for years to come seem daunting.

When you shift your focus from what may transpire in the years to come and return to the minute at hand, you will discover a measure of calm and renewed confidence in your capabilities. You will also discover an inner faith that the future will take care of itself. As John Newton aptly said,
“We can easily manage if we will only take, each day [minute], the burden appointed to it. But the load will be too heavy for us if we carry yesterday’s burden over again today, and then add the burden of the morrow before we are required to bear it.” Avoid ruminating about the past or worrying about tomorrow.

The best thing about the future is that it comes only one minute at a time. “If you don’t wait for tomorrow, tomorrow comes.” –Senegalese Proverb In this minute anything is manageable. Live your life to the fullest in the moment – savor the flavor moment to moment.
