A ten-year study conducted in Scotland reveals that 20% more heart attacks occur on Monday than any other day of the week. Nearly 80,000 men and women who died of heart disease were studied between 1986 and 1995.
Heart attacks among women under 50 with no previous heart disease history rose by a fifth on Mondays compared to the daily average. Men under 50 with no earlier heart issues, showed a 19% heart attack death increase on Monday. In contrast, Tuesday showed the lowest number of heart-related fatalities.
Dr Christine Evans posits the Monday peak in heart attacks can be attributed to increased drinking during the weekend and work related stress. After a weekend of hedonistic, carefree pursuits many people dread going back to work, maybe to a job they dislike. Although, conducted in Scotland this study is applicable in U.S. culture as increased drinking during the weekend is evident based on DUI statistics.
Reported January 2010 a Conference Board research group study revealed that only 45% of U.S employees like their jobs. Some speculate that national economics is causing a generalized malaise due to a tight job market. However, statistics show that employee discontent has been steadily rising for over fifty years.
Universal Laws dictate each person creates their reality-specifically the Law of Cause and Effect. The Law of Cause and Effect states that; nothing transpires by chance or outside the Universal Laws. Every thought, word, feeling and action has a reaction or consequence and you – ‘Reap what you sow.’
While your job might be less than ideal; you are in control of deciding to accept, ‘what is;’ work to make changes in your work environment or find a new job. All three choices are equally viable and feasible.
Many people have adopted the conditioned belief that work is to be disliked and endured. TGIF (Thank God It’s Friday) has become a revered cliché, a badge of honor to carry until retirement.
What if you reversed this conditioned belief? ‘Thank God It’s Monday’ – I have the honor and opportunity to create a week of creative contribution in the world. I have the unique opportunity to commit my energy of intention, out of design rather than conditioned default. This moment on this Monday is a brand new moment. I can create a record of efficiency and productivity like no other. I can open my mind to the miracle of my contributions.’
Miracles transpire every moment of existence you can be in the flow of miracles. Every breath you take is a miracle. Thank God it is Monday – eight hours of opportunity to create and give to the world. It is a choice. It is a decision. Deciding is fundamental to creating. What will you decide to create today – more of the same or a different experience? This moment is the first moment of the rest of your life – choose well.
