Practice Gratitude – The Benefits

The recent survival of the thirty-three Chilean miners trapped underground for sixty-nine days has prompted me to write about being grateful no matter the circumstances, conditions or state you are in.

For sixty-nine days the world watched wondering how the thirty-three men would manage such a life threatening situation – trapped, isolated and with the knowledge that if the rescue operations failed, a slow deterioration and death was the only outcome.

It is undoubtedly a true test of the mental toughness and resilience of each man (and their loved ones), to navigate and mentally sustain themselves while the rescue efforts progressed. When anyone triumphs such adversity, it is a testimony to strength, courage, perseverance, determination, and faith with gratitude.

The Apostle, Paul wrote to Philippians from a dark, dank Roman prison, “I have learned this one thing in life, that in whatever state I find myself, therein to be grateful. What condition I find myself, therein to be grateful.” (1:18-26)   He spent approximately five and one-half to six years in Roman prisons between 49 A.D. and 67 A.D. until he was put to death May or June 68 A.D.

Unlike the Chilean miners, imprisoned a half-mile beneath the Earth’s surface, The Apostle Paul, had little hope that he would see the outside walls of the Roman prison each time he was imprisoned. However, he chose to exercise gratitude. And in spite of the conditions, state and circumstances he chose to be grateful versus angry, bitter, hate filled or victimized.

No matter what the condition, state or circumstance is, therein to be grateful, because gratitude is transformative. Gratitude lifts our perspective. Gratitude changes the vibratory field in such a way that you begin to have access to the field of all possibilities.

Pause now. No matter the circumstances, conditions or state you find yourself in right now, therein be grateful. As you are grateful, you will experience the miracle that is here for everyone this moment. No matter the circumstance, condition or state therein this moment, practice being grateful.
