Is there a definition for wellness? The word wellness is in the news, social media, blogs, books, on billboards, and in conversations. Many people reference a ‘state of well-being,’ which is vague to say the least. The vague definition of well-being and wellness implies ‘a state of acceptance or satisfaction with one’s condition or conditioning – i.e. What one accepts, tolerates, ignores, pretends, copes with or struggles with.

“Terminal” lung cancer melted away naturally: The doctor gave no hope to 80-year-old Beulah from South Carolina. He said, “We have no treatment for you. You have six months to live.” During a follow-up exam two months later, the doctor asked, “What’s going on” The cancer is melting away!” Another doctor compared her before-and-after X-rays and said, “This can’t be the same woman. Various forms of hypnosis, trance, and altered states of consciousness have been documented in a number of cultures throughout history. Some changes in the body have been associated with hypnosis, including changes in skin temperature, heart rate, intestinal secretions and immune response. Preliminary research suggests that hypnosis lowers the sensory and motor component of the gastrocolonic response in patients with IBS.

Originally the term addiction was conceived and defined as physical and psychological dependence on psychoactive substances (alcohol, tobacco, heroin and other substances). Subsequently, addiction was broadened to include any persistent, compulsive dependence on a behavior or substance. Henceforth, every symptom can be labeled an addiction.
