Words That Sabotage Your Success

Your beliefs, thoughts, feelings, words and actions are all forms of energy. What you believe, think, feel, say and do in each moment comes back to you to create your reality. Energy moves in a circle, so what goes around comes around. The combined beliefs, thoughts, feelings, words and actions of everyone on the planet creates our collective consciousness, it creates the world we see before us.

The beliefs, thoughts, feelings and words you speak hold immense energy/power. Energy/Power to open up possibilities, and energy/power to close them down. Energy/Power to build trust, and energy/power to erode it. Energy/Power to direct new action, and energy/power to end it. Energy/Power to amplify negative emotions, and energy/power to generate and spread positive ones.

The good news is, because your beliefs, thoughts, feelings, words and actions create the world around you, you have the energy/power to create a world of peace, harmony and abundance. In order to do this, it is essential that you learn to control your beliefs, thoughts, feelings, words and actions.

The following phrases and words are the most common beliefs people consistently espouse, unaware of the self-sabotage that is inherent.  Change these common beliefs, you will notice significant shifts in your Self and your relationships with family, friends and coworkers.

 

  • You/I should or You/I shouldn’t____.     Change To: If you desire____, you need to____ In  order to____you need to____.
  • You/I have to (must)____.      Change To: If you desire____, you need to____.   In order to____you need to____.
  • Why don’t you, Why didn’t you____?     Change To:    Questions: When, What, Where, Who, Which, How____.
  • Always       Change to:  You usually____. You are usually____.     I usually____.   I am usually____.
  • Never         Change To: You are seldom____. You seldom____.   I seldom____.  I am seldom____.
  • If Only____.      Change To:   In the future, if____ please____.  In the future, if____, I will____.
  • Try  (I tried)____.   Change To:   I will, I will not,  I will if, ____.
  • Yes, but____.   Change To:  Paraphrase what you heard (Pause. Take a short breath.) Give an explanation. Avoid giving excuses.
  • I’m getting ready to____.  Either you will or you won’t.  Make a decision.  Change To:  I will____ by____.
  • Not enough time.  Time is an illusion. However, in the linear world, time is a construct to manage within. There are 1440 in every day what are you doing with yours?  Yes, there are 1440 minutes in every day.  Decide what you will do with yours.  Change To:  I will put it on my schedule.  That isn’t something, I am willing to do.
  • I can’t____.   Change To:  I will.  I won’t. I will if____.
  • I want to____.    Change To:  I desire to____.  My desires is to____. In metaphysics desire has more energy/power because our senses are involved.
  • I hope ____.  Hope is analogous to waiting for Santa Clause to bring the pony you hope for.  Change To:  I trust_____ will transpire.   I trust I will complete____.  I trust I will create____.
  • Someday____.  Someday is not a day of the week.  Using someday as a time frame is analogous to hope.  Change To:  I will____ by____.  I will begin on_____.
  • You’ve got a problem,. This is a problem.   There are no problems, only issues that need to be modified, corrected or eliminated. Change To: This issue needs to be resolved, modified, corrected or eliminated.
  • This (That) is impossible.  In the realm of possibilities there are only a few impossible tasks.  More accurately it is out of your skill set, inclination, desire or interest.   Change To:  I will if____.   It is out of my skill set.  I am uninterested in doing what it will take to do it.
  • There is no way____.  Where there is a will; there is a way. You simply might not know ‘the way’ this moment.  Steve Jobs proved this point many times to the engineers he hired to work on developing new products.  Sometimes he fired someone on the spot, because, she/he declared there is no way.  Change To:  I will,  if____. (i.e. negotiating parameters).  It is out of my skill set.  I am uninterested in doing what it will take to do it.
  • It is (This is)  hopeless.   Nothing is hopeless.  Possibilities are infinite . If you choose to abandon the idea or project, state it.  Change To: This is not in my area of interest. I am uninterested in this. I am choosing to quit. I am no longer willing to commit time to this.
